Spiritual Paths

๐ŸŒฟ

An introduction to the many traditions that meet under our roof โ€” not prescriptive, just a map.

Finding Your Way

Alternative Reflection exists at the intersection of many traditions. We are not aligned with any single path, and we do not believe one exists that is right for everyone. What we offer is a respectful, curious introduction to the traditions that most often find their way into our work โ€” and into the lives of the seekers who come to us.

Astrology

One of humanity's oldest symbolic languages, astrology maps the positions of celestial bodies at the moment of your birth and tracks their ongoing movements as a framework for understanding personality, timing, and life themes. Modern astrology ranges from the pop-culture simplicity of sun sign horoscopes to the extraordinary depth of full natal chart analysis. Both have their place.

Paganism & Earth-Based Traditions

A broad family of spiritual traditions that honour the natural world as sacred. This includes Wicca (a structured initiatory tradition developed in the mid-twentieth century), Druidry (rooted in Celtic reverence for nature and wisdom), and many forms of folk magic and hedgewitchery that draw on local land-based practices. Common threads include working with seasonal cycles, the elements, and a view of the divine as immanent in nature.

Shamanism

Shamanic practice centres on the practitioner's ability to move between ordinary and non-ordinary reality to receive guidance, healing, and insight. Contemporary practitioners often draw from multiple traditions; it is important to approach this with awareness of cultural context and respect for the living cultures from which these practices originate.

Buddhism & Mindfulness

Buddhist philosophy and practice have influenced much of the modern wellness and meditation landscape. The Buddha's core teachings on impermanence, suffering, and the nature of mind offer a rigorous and compassionate framework for inner work. Mindfulness โ€” now widely practiced in secular contexts โ€” has its roots in Buddhist vipassana meditation.

Hermeticism & Western Esotericism

A tradition of spiritual philosophy rooted in ancient Egypt and Greece, developed through the Renaissance into the rich Western esoteric traditions โ€” including ceremonial magic, alchemy, Kabbalah, and Tarot in its more mystical applications. A deep and rewarding area of study for those drawn to symbolic and philosophical dimensions of the spiritual path.

"The path you walk is the right path โ€” not because it is the only one, but because it is yours. Seek what resonates, hold it lightly, and keep walking."

A Note on Respect

Many spiritual traditions belong to specific cultures and communities who have kept them alive through centuries, often in the face of suppression. As you explore, we invite you to do so with gratitude and respect โ€” learning the history and context of what you practice, and honouring the living communities from which it comes.
